Tom Brown

Tom Brown

Tom grew up on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, where no one could hear him, so he would play drums all-day. Tom then went to study music theory, composition, arranging, recording, and many other skills at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo (SLO). It was at Cuesta College that Tom began playing the vibraphone and would later study with the great Bebop musician Charlie Shoemake through his non-profit organization, The Central Coast Jazz Institute. After graduating from Cuesta College, Tom moved down to Los Angeles to further his education at Cal State Northridge. During his time in southern California, Tom integrated himself into the music scene as a versatile percussionist. The experience reached its peak when the Northridge band was invited to perform at Lincoln Center, in New York City. Tom has since relocated to SLO county to be with family but travels often for performance, education, and consultation. The artisan percussion company, Marimba One™️, signed Tom as a Discovery Artist in 2021. In 2023, Tom released his debut record, Expression of Home, featuring the Marimba One signature vibraphone, the OneVibe™️.
