PCPA Pacific Conservatory Theatre is a year round equity theatre with a resident company of both union and non-union actors. We produce under the URTA Tier III AEA agreement. Connected to the professional company is a two-year professional Actor Training Conservatory and a two-year professional Technical Theatre Training Conservatory. We value mentorship, collaboration, ensemble, and lifelong learning. During the school year, PCPA produces primarily with our resident company and conservatory students. During the summer season we bring in actors from all over the country to produce in three theatre spaces – the mainstage 440 seat Marian Theatre in Santa Maria, CA, the 700 seat outdoor Solvang Festival Theatre in Solvang, CA, and the flexible black-box Severson Theatre in Santa Maria, CA.
Our summer season usually starts the last week in May and runs through mid-September, yet the majority of the company is typically finished by the end of August. Most actors are with us for more than one show; however, single show agreements are possible.
PCPA has a year-round resident Equity company. We also offer some additional Equity contracts for specific roles. PCPA works under the URTA Tier III contract.
PCPA casts several non-union actors during their summer season. All non-union actors are interns and awarded stipends. Stipends begin at $450 per week and go up from there depending on experience, size of role, and level of training.
All non-union actors must register for a production lab class at Allan Hancock College. PCPA will pay all registration fees.
Non-union actors can earn EMC points during their time with PCPA.
