Bethany Thomas*

Bethany Thomas is ecstatic to make her PCPA debut! A decorated Midwest darling, she’s garnered recent acclaim for portraying guitar icon Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the play Marie and Rosetta, and Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday and Maria Callas in the one-woman show Songs For Nobodies (Northlight Theater, Milwaukee Rep, People’s Light Theater). Other credits include work with Rep of St. Louis (Moby Dick); Goodman Theater (A Christmas Carol); Writers Theater (Into The Woods, Once, Natasha, Pierre…); Court Theater(Porgy and Bess); Chicago Shakespeare; Second City; Lyric Opera; Steppenwolf and the Getty Villa. She performs with musician Jon Langford, performance artist Grelley Duvall, the queer af dance troupe The Fly Honeys, and played a season as Madame Z in the cirque spectacular Teatro ZinZanni Chicago. BT is the proud recipient of a Black Theater Alliance Award and two Joseph Jefferson Awards for acting, a 3Arts Award in music, and was recently selected as a Lunt-Fontanne Fellow. Check out her original music BT/She/Her and Material Flats, the latter made with bestie Tawny Newsome (on Apple Music, Bandcamp, Spotify, and everywhere else)
