Teaching Philosophy

In an industry where it is highly likely that most actors will be involved in a musical theatre piece at some point in their career, I believe that training in the fundamental concepts of musicianship and singing technique are vital to a fully rounded educational program. Developing a strong foundation and comfort level with core musical skills is an invaluable resource for each student as they engage in the wonderful world of theatre.

In my classes I strive to create a space where each student, regardless of prior background or exposure to music education, can succeed in developing a strong sense of musicianship and musical identity. My goal is to take concepts such as music theory and sight singing, which many find intimidating at first, and present them in such a way that each student is able to enthusiastically engage and unlock their musical potential.
