Stage Scene L.A.
lauds PCPA with awards
Stage Scene L.A. has recognized PCPA’s 2009 Summer Season with 11 awards. Editor Steven Stanley reviewed 256 eligible productions throughout L.A. and surrounding areas, including Solvang, between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2009.
PCPA’s awards from Stage Scene L.A. include Best Director Roger DeLaurier for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Les Miserables, and Best Performance by an Actor, Erik Stein and Sam Zeller for Les Miserables, along with Outstanding Achievement Awards to Michael Jenkinson for Directing The Music Man and Callum Morris’s Musical Directing for Les Miserables and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
In a release Steven Stanley noted that not only had the quantity of eligible production grown, but the quality was noticeably stronger. “As the number of invitations to review has grown, so has my ability to pick and choose the ‘crème de la crème’ of Southern California theater. Simply put, I saw a lot more great shows this year than last!” Stanley added, “Even reviewing 21-22 productions a month, it was necessary for me to turn down literally hundreds and hundreds of invitations.”
The awards were announced September 7, 2009.
